Privacy Policy

Note: This policy covers both the AskQA web service and the AskQA MCP extension for Claude Desktop and other AI assistants.

1. What We Collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

  • Your name, email address, and profile picture
  • A unique Google account identifier

When you use the service, we also collect:

  • Website URLs you submit for testing
  • Test configurations and custom Playwright code you provide
  • Test results, including screenshots captured during test runs
  • Notification channel settings (e.g. Telegram chat IDs)

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate the AskQA service — running your tests and delivering results
  • To authenticate you and manage your account
  • To send you test failure notifications through your configured channels
  • To improve the service and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Google Cloud. Screenshots from test runs are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage. We use HTTPS for all data transmission and follow industry-standard security practices.

4. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. This cookie is essential for the service to function and expires after 30 days of inactivity. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google OAuth — for authentication. Google receives confirmation that you signed in, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Cloud — for hosting the application and database.
  • Cloudflare — for screenshot storage and CDN.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your test data

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Test run results and screenshots are retained for 90 days. When you delete your account, we remove all associated data within 30 days.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the service. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. MCP Extension Privacy

The AskQA MCP extension for Claude Desktop and other AI assistants operates with limited scope:

What the extension does:

  • Communicates only with api.askqa.ai via HTTPS
  • Stores your API key securely in your operating system's keychain
  • Sends test configurations, schedules, and notification settings to our servers

What the extension does NOT do:

  • Does not access files on your computer
  • Does not read your browsing history
  • Does not track conversations with Claude or other AI assistants
  • Does not collect analytics or telemetry
  • Does not share data with third parties beyond configured notification channels

Open source transparency:

The MCP extension source code is publicly available at github.com/askqa-ai/askqa-plugins. You can verify what data is collected and how it's transmitted by reviewing the code.

Security warning:

Claude Desktop displays a broad permissions warning for all Node.js extensions. Despite this warning, our extension only makes network requests to api.askqa.ai and does not access your filesystem. See our Security Documentation for technical details.
